Welcome to the website for Great Ness & Little Ness

Great Ness & Little Ness are two parishes with a single parish council.  The parishes cover a wide area including Great Ness, Little Ness, Wilcott, Nesscliffe, Hopton and Valeswood. Great Ness & Little Ness Parish Council is the level of government closest to the community with Shropshire Council above it in the hierarchy. The PC is often the first place people will go with concerns or ideas and for this reason it is a vital part of the community. We campaign on issues of local concern and are currently seeking funding for a number of community projects. The PC is also a consultee on planning applications.

Parish Council responsibilities

The parish council is responsible for the play areas at Nesscliffe & Wilcott, the war memorials at Little Ness & Nesscliffe and a number of benches, defibrillators and noticeboards.  Footpaths, grass verges, street lighting on main roads, waste collection and Great Ness civic cemetery are the responsibility of Shropshire Council.

Parish Council Meetings

The Parish Council meets on the first Tuesday of the month but does not meet in August or January. Meetings are held either in Nesscliffe Village Hall or Little Ness Village Hall and start at 7.30pm. Notice of the meeting and agenda are posted on the village noticeboards and website about a week in advance. Members of the public are welcome to attend and speak in the public session at the start.

Social Media

We also have a Facebook page– “Great Ness & Little Ness Parish Council” and there are general community Facebook pages, "Nesscliffe Community" and "Wilcott Watch".
